Susan Rose
Personal Trainer
My name is Susan Rose and I have had a long career in analytics and retail consulting. This has seen me travel extensively to work with clients in 14 countries across 4 continents. I was also lucky enough to have three sons, who kept me on my toes!
During these years, it was incredibly important for me to look after myself - not least to carve out some me-time and my first choice was always to get physical. I've been a gym member for over 35 years in one way and another and participated in various trends such as step aerobics, swiss ball balance training and even dabbled with Pilates (not for me). I also love to trail run and I especially love to jump rope - a great piece of kit to travel with or if you're short of time.
It wasn't until my late 40s that I was introduced to functional fitness training. I got a new PT when I moved out of London to Chichester - he's still my PT to this day and I am grateful he continues to challenge me. On the first day I told him that I wanted to be stronger and that I would love to be able to do 'proper' push-ups and maybe even a pull up one day.
Fast forward ten years, I honestly feel in the best shape of my life. In my 50s I have learned serious strength training, Olympic lifting, gymnastic moves such as kipping pull ups and toes to bar and yes, I can do 'proper' push-ups and pull-ups.
I have met wonderful people and become part of a functional fitness community that means the world to me. So much so that in 2022 I decided to train to become a PT myself with the goal of passing on my knowledge and enthusiasm to others.
Who do I train?
I have a special interest in training women who are looking to invest in their body now to live their best life as they get older. I combine general fitness training with strength and resistance training and mobility programming.
Why functional fitness?
That's easy - as the name suggests it's the best way to allow you to function optimally at any age and to pursue your interests, whether that's skiing, watersports, climbing, hiking or just feeling strong day to day.
